Having sold over 8 million copies worldwide, Eve is ready for her musical comeback. After several delayed attempts over the last six years, Eve feels great that Missy, Lil’ Kim, and herself are making a return to rap music. “It’s kind of a good look for all us to come out at the same time….because we do actually like each other”, says Eve.
With a new album readying for release, the Philly rapper sat down with The Women of Hip-Hop for an exclusive interview to discuss her hiatus. While doing so, she shared her thoughts on a few of her female rap counterparts. From the theatrical Nicki Minaj to Lil’ Kim, to Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks — Eve didn’t minus any words. “I’m not really into the Iggy Azalea chick. I can’t really fuck with her music, but her look is crazy”, she says of the Australian rapper.
On her upcoming single: “I’m gonna throw out a viral single at the end of this month before the official single. I’m probably gonna throw out a couple records before the radio single. My whole goal for this record, since it’s been so long, I wanted to make sure that my core audience didn’t feel like Eve completely forgot about us and went to another side. I feel like this record is well rounded. It has enough of the hard street stuff, it has some radio stuff, but it also has some stuff that people can listen to when they’re feeling down.”
